A first-half goal from Neil Roberts looked set to bring a second home win in a week but a shot from Kyle Nix deflected off Steve Evans just minutes after the break levelled matters, which meant that honours were even at the end of an entertaining ninety minutes.

Brian Little felt that we looked the more likely victors at the end of the contest: "I think that at 1-0 up we had a system that was frustrating them.

"We were giving them quite a bit of possession in the full-back areas but they weren't really hurting us.

"Once they scored, and it was a poor goal, I don't think it was a mistake more a deflection which we couldn't really do much about.

"Once they scored they have then got the impetus to perhaps go on and win so it was important for us to change and to test them which might have won the game for us. I think it nearly worked for us.

"We have quite a bit of variation now, with a couple of big fellows in the team as forwards today so the temptation could have been to throw Rob on but big Drewe was doing quite well for us and we just thought that we might as well keep it pretty much the same until the end.

"I was pleased with so much about the game and I think that we were closer to winning it than perhaps losing it but at 1-0 we maybe could have got a second.

"At 1-1 we had a couple of decent half chances but then you get nervous and at the end Gavin has to pull off one really good save. They then get a couple of corners and a week or two ago one of them might have ended up in the back of the net.

"There are a group of them who are standing up to things at the moment so am I happy with a point? Yes, I guess so but I thought that were just a little bit unlucky, the goal we gave away was a poor goal which made it difficult for us.

"There is a long way to go and we have got a lot of things to do but we have got a period of games now where if we can could out of them and we are still in touch then we have a lot of games against teams in the bottom half of the table to finish off with.

"They will be massive games for us, but it is important that we carry on picking up points at the moment.

"It would have been a fantastic three points for us today, but it wasn't to be.

"As I say though, three weeks ago that was a game we might have lost and the comparison could be with the Brentford game, where we scored first and then conceded a goal in the second half and ten minutes later we were 3-1 down!

"There was no sign of that today but there was signs of a team who had won one, changed tactics and became progressive and put the opposition under pressure.

"We tried to win the game and when you are bottom of the table to be able to do that is reasonably pleasing.

"We would like to think that some of the things that we have done are the right things to do but some might prove not to be as good as others.

"We are happy with the fact that at the moment we are going out there and there is a genuine belief that we can get something out of the games.

"We have tried to create something different. We are not discounting people who are already at the club. Procs come on today and looked sharp and then nearly got a goal or two. It is good for him to see different people with him up front for him to play off.

"I don't discount the players who are already at the club to have a major say in how things go but I am pleased with the new players, mostly because of their attitude and the fact that they have come into something which is difficult but they don't seem to see it as such.

"They are just rolling their sleeves up, patting each other on the back before the start and encouraging each other, and the team is going there with a great deal of spirit.

"At 1-1 we made moves to try to win the game but three weeks ago we might have been making moves to try to save the game.

"We have brought Drewe and Rob in and it was a case of which one shall we play? We went for the more experienced one and he did a good job for us.

"There was a temptation to throw Rob in but again we didn't think that we were that far away.

"We stuck with it and I am pleased because one of the problems that we have is that two or three of the lads who have come in, like Paul Hall and Sam Aiston, are injured at the moment and it would be nice to see them in the group.

"I wouldn't say I'm happy but I'm hopeful that we are going down a road that might see us to safety.

"We can't dwell on the negatives. If we have not won the game, then you have to make sure that there is not a negative there and I feel that we were closer to winning it than losing it.

"We were playing against a side who are a decent side and who are in decent form at the moment.

"There will come a time when we will lose a game and then it will be interesting to see how we react to that but at the moment we are ready for the next one and we are looking forward to that.

"Before the game we talked about pressuring the keeper and it nearly paid off when Chris took the ball off him late on and if he had turned the other way then he would have had a simple chance.

"Procy hit a couple of shots across the keeper and Jeff has come on and had two great strikes which if they had a bit more dip on them might have done more but all in all there were things there to be pleased about.

"Even the players who have been here a while are finding something a little extra.

"Carl is slightly different to some of the lads who have come in as he has been playing in Division One and at 22-years-old has the ability to become an even better player.

"He's not like Paul Hall who is 35; there is something different about that signing for us. Should we stay in the League, and I believe that we will, then I hope that he stays here because he is definitely a Football League player.

"I have known him since he was 17 and am really pleased that he has come in and is going a good job for us, and he has the ability to step up a league or two. His signing is a little different as the others are coming in to do a job for us short term."
