Brian: I'm Happy To Settle For A Point

Posted on: Wed 30 Jan 2008

OBVIOUSLY delighted to have picked up another valuable point, manager Brian Little was still realistic enough to acknowledge that his side had been lucky to leave Morecambe with a point:

"We didn't play very well, but this was definitely one of those games where the result was more important than the performance.

"We also made it hard for ourselves by conceding early in each half, but overall I wasn't very happy with the way we played.

"For sure I'd settle for points every time, but I just thought we got pulled around a little bit too much today, especially so at the back.

"We were always a little bit of an accident waiting to happen, but even so it's a great result and that's the nice thing about it.

"There were a couple of decisions which went our way, which I thought were the right decisions, and if anyone is arguing that they weren't penalties, then I would have to disagree as I genuinely thought they were.

"I obviously agreed with the referee on those and in over ruling his linesman on the far side, who might have been waving for a foul against Neil Taylor, hopefully, watching the game DVD will prove that as well and that he did a good job.

"Overall we did do some silly things, but we didn't give in. Again we changed the team to be positive in the second half, Michael [Proctor] has gone on, looked positive and scored the second penalty.

"That doesn't say they weren't the stronger side on the night. We couldn't deal with their forwards, so we were always under pressure defensively and we never looked comfortable.

"Because of that, I'm happy that we have come out with a point, as on another day, they might well have scored a few more goals."
