Two goals in the second half from Jamie Day ensured The Posh returned south with all three points although Wrexham pushed them all the way in an entertaining clash at the Racecourse Ground.
The first was a free-kick which took a wicked deflection off the wall, while the second was a superb strike which gave Gavin Ward absolutely no chance.
Reds boss Brian Little was disappointed with the outcome but took some positives from an encouraging display, "I am obviously disappointed as I thought that we matched them and worked hard.
"I think that they had the lion's share of possession at times but the two goals that we have conceded are both bad goals from our point of view, in terms of free-kicks on the edge of the box. They are dangerous positions but outside of that, in open play, while they are bright and a good side, I thought that we coped pretty well.
"I have to be reasonably pleased as we matched them in open play but the two set-pieces are the deciding factors in the game. The first one has taken a deflection and the second was in a good position for them.
"They might say that they deserved to win but I am reasonably satisfied.
"The problem is that we are playing good teams and good teams generally have something a little bit special.
"Up to now we have been on our toes enough not to make silly mistakes, and I'm not saying they were silly mistakes tonight, but the first was a poor free-kick to give away while the second Jeff lunged in a little bit.
"Outside of the two free-kicks they might have been slightly better than us but I think that we probably had the better half chances really.
"Gavin missed one ball which gave them a bit of a scrambled chance but I think that we had as many half chances as they had in a game where our system worked against them and frustrated them a little bit.
"Are we disappointed? Yes of course we are.
"It is a hard night's work and too come away with something would have been a great night's work.
"I think that we realised ourselves that this month's games are important to us but in the next few games I know that there is a deciding element about each of them if you like.
"The first goal was a major blow to us because they were going nowhere and I though that we had stopped giving away silly free-kicks. The second one was less so but the first one was silly.
"We have got better, we are better and the next phase of games is going to be the deciding factor.
"Playing Peterborough and Darlington are bonus games if you like, they are good sides and you can see them beating both sides, so there have been hard games for us and if we had got another point that would be as good point as they are as good a side as you will face at this level.
"Defensively we were good but there are some areas which can do a little better in but against the better teams it is about trying to make it hard for them.
"We have worked too hard to throw it all away and we are not going to throw it away.
"Now we can look at March with something like seven games in it and they are all going to be massive games for us."
