A late Michael Proctor goal from close range was enough to ensure a crucial win over the Shakers at a rain swept Racecourse Ground.

With Macclesfield and Mansfield winning by the same scoreline, it was imperative that we took all three points, and we looked well on course for that when Drewe Broughton opened the scoring aftera scorching run by Sam Aiston down the rightwing.

The visitors levelled matters three minutes into injury time at the end of the first half when Glynn Hurst, a player who always seems to score against us, stole in to net following a free-kick taken from just in front of the Mold Road Stand.

Brian Little was pleased with the three points but this was tempered by two more injuries, "I think that we had the better chances in the game but Gavin (Ward) has pulled off a couple of good saves, and I thought that we could have made it safe with a third at the end.

"It was not easy but the effort and the commitment was fantastic really.

"I think that you can't help but look at how other people are doing, that is human nature, and I think that it was absolutely vital that we won today.

"We are pleased with lots of things and while the result has been good for us, not many things went well for us today or indeed in the last week.

"In all fairness, we have had injury after injury and illness as well and now Carl (Tremarco) and Neil (Taylor) both going off was a massive blow for us.

"To have adjusted to that and to have got a result was fantastic.

"From Drewe's point of view, I was pleased for him and he almost got a second right at the start of the second half and at the moment he is always liable to sneak something. He could have wrapped it up with a great run and it is important to score goals.

"The compliment that I can pay Bury is that they are a good footballing side and they are bright up front which will ultimately see them very much safe.

"With some of the wins that they have had recently it was a tough game for us today and you can see how they have picked teams off with their forward pairing.

"Carl had an ankle problem which we can't judge until Monday.

"Neil has to have an x-ray on his shin and ankle. It was a real hard tackle and you do worry about things like that. He is very, very tender and very, very sore. There might be a little something in there which might cause him to miss a few games.

"Danny's (Sonner) Achilles is feeling better and he'll be training this week we hope and Neil Roberts did a bit of light training with us on Thursday and Friday so they are getting better.

"Steve Evans probably won't be fit for next weekend and we have got two more injuries from today.

"If they are all out including Jeff Whitely that means that we are missing six genuine first team players and that is a big loss."
