A 4-1 scoreline was perhaps unkind on a Wrexham side that battled throughout the match at MK Dons, but manager Brian Little was still less than happy about some of the things he had seen.
"At any level in football you can't afford to give four goals away, but I do think that outside of that we player reasonably well.
"With the score at 2-1 I thought we had a chance. Overall I don't think they had too many more chances than us.
"We did though give away three awful goals, the first was poor, the third a free header and then in the last minute someone took a quick free kick and all our centre halves were running up - it was not the cleverest in the world.
"I felt at 2-1 we had a chance and fir the last 20 minutes of the first half we were grinding our way back into the game, so again our attitude and our commitment were right, but we just had a spell during which you can't really explain whey we give away the goals that we do.
"There were periods in the game when we looked comfortable and then there were periods of individuals making the most horrible mistakes.
"Then when we had got back into the match, to go and give them a free header at the corner was poor.
"Having said that, there are things about the team we are fairly proud of, but again the scoreline tonight probably suggests that we have not tried, but I don't think that is the case. Our attitude was spot on, we just continue to give stupid goals away.
"We have been praying to get big Steve Evans back into the side, because he is so good at heading the ball. Yet for the first goal he decides not to head it, which is his strength. If you look at the other 89 minutes, he has headed and kicked the ball well, but for five seconds he switches off.
"So for a player who has done well for us and had a decent season, tonight started the game with a real bad decision.
"Later on in the second half Phil Bolland either lost or didn't go with is mark for the second goal. Another player who had done quite well throughout the night, so it becomes quite hard to put your finger on why it happens.
"We have worked hard wit the players all the time, I think our system is good, our pattern is good, but we can't do anything about our position if we keep doing silly things like we are.
"It becomes a nightmare for the rest of the game, when an individual makes a mistake when he doing quite well otherwise.
"I have to say I don't like to see people sent off during a game, but I did look at the penalty and felt that Neil was the last man. I spoke to the referee five minute late about his thinking and didn't quite understand his reply, but as I said I don't like to see people sent off.
"I was one of those decisions when you wondered why nothing more was done, other than giving the penalty,
"We still have five games left and tonight was always going to be a hard game, with few people in the world giving us the chance of getting a result here. We haven't, but we are bitterly disappointed because of so many silly things.
"Yet there were good things, we stuck Danny Williams in there, despite him not being 100% match fit, but calms us down and passes the ball. While as the game went on Neil Roberts did really well for us and defensively we did plenty of things right.
"We said it in the dressing room after the game, we will gave a real go on Sunday. I just hope we take the mistakes out of our game and then we have a chance.
"Our general play is as good as most sides in the bottom half of the division, but we do make more mistakes then any of them.
"I would like to think that we are up for every game, but during the previous five to today we should have had more points out of them and the reason we haven't is that we are our own worst enemy.
"It's as simply as that. We work hard; we try hard, but lack that bit of quality. Which is about making the right decisions, at the right time.
"We are just making too many mistakes - end of story."
