Goals from Steve Evans and a late cracker from Jefferson Louis were enough to secure a valuable three points from the Blue Square Premier with Oxford United in our first home Setanta game. The watching TV audience must have enjoyed what was an entertaining spectacle with Luke Foster red-carded for a foul on Shaun Whalley but the visitors still more than held their own.

In the main Brian Little was pleased with the outcome and the start that we have made to the season, "There were periods of the game where we thought that we were going to win it easy and I think that we had a period of the game at 1-0 where we were always under some sort of pressure. One mistake and quite often, I have been in football a long time and there are loads of games where I should have won and drew 1-1 and loads where I have lost 2-1 so I am pleased to have won.

"Credit to them, I think that they deserved some for their attitude in the second half when they were  a man down; they had an aggressive game plan and they had an extra forward to what most teams, who would have gone 4-4-1.

"They had two forwards and they put us under pressure, we nearly paid the price and I don't know if we were lucky at the end but we've had the better chances and it was hard work, especially second half, I'm not saying that the Football League is different but the attitude of trying to get something out of the games in commendable.

"We've had some really tasty games already.

"I was pleased with the tempo that we started out with because I know that we made a massive mistake at York; we had a plan to go there and get behind the ball and try and break at them. To be honest it didn't work and it didn't seem to suit us. We could never get that out of out of mindset.

"We're trying to learn quickly but we played to our strengths, which is playing quick, getting at them and putting them under pressure, trying to get the ball off them in good areas.

"I thought that the two goals were great, I look at Jeff's goal at the end and it is a magnificent goal and I am really pleased for him because he has had a few chances tonight and he's a real handful, he makes the odd mistake but he's a real handful. We think that we have got something there that can cause problems to teams, we've just to encourage him but he'll have games where it might not go for him. I think that he is great for us and he leads the line well, he's strong, he wants to do well, he is so desperate to do well, and I think that the goal at the end was absolutely fantastic.

"He was absolutely shattered, he's wound himself up so much after missing the penalty and I think that shows how much people are caring at the moment.

"We are delighted and he has been a credit tonight.

"That pleased me and I thought that big Evo (Steve Evans) was marvellous tonight.

"He made a couple of mistakes but I thought his heading and his aggression was great, and of course Wardy (Gavin Ward) pulled off two great saves.

"When he has had a quite period for a while and is then under pressure, then he has to react and the two saves were just at the right time.

"If one of them had gone in it would definitely have been hard work for the last fifteen minutes.

"I think that we are being very direct in our play but when you have someone like Jeff there then sometimes you have to do that and mix it up.

"I'm very pleased with the start, disappointed that we have lost one game but we have won two very important ones."
