Brian: We Had To Go Out & Work As A Team
TWO goals from Jefferson Louis and a penalty from Simon Brown allowed us to come back from a goal down to beat visitors Ebbsfleet United 3-2 at The Racecourse.
Brian Little described it as a great result but once again we suffered with injuries: "We have been on edge all week.
"People were expecting lots of things from us, but last week we let ourselves down.
"We had been well and truly told that was the case so we were always going to be a bit nervous today.
"We planned in the first 10 or 15 minutes to play a little bit longer and to try and concentrate on not going a goal behind, but then we did, so we were under pressure again.
"The commitment and the desire to get something out of the game was great.
"At the end of the day we are trying our best but at 3-1 today we have won the game comfortably but then we have switched off for ten seconds.
"It was a hard game for both teams because we did not know which was the fouls were going to go. That's probably about as much as I can say really,
"We almost felt that might dictate the penalty but you look at the penalty, should that be a sending off?
"I thought that we should have been given a penalty earlier on; we had a player flat out and the referee waved play on so we were at a disadvantage with a man off the pitch and a man flat down.
"There were a lot of things going on which didn't help the flow of the game.
"Ultimately it was a great result for us which was the main thing.
"Again we have had problems; Neil Taylor is pretty much concussed so we had to take him off at half-time and Jefferson (Louis) has tweaked his hamstring.
"Once he had scored his second, it was just a matter of time before we took him off ready for next week.
"People like Michael Proctor has gone on and done a good job for us on the left-hand side. Despite whatever problems he has had he has worked for the team and I was pleased by that.
"We felt today that we had to go out and work hard as a team.
"We forgo a little bit of passing as we felt that we had to match them as a team today.
"When we have gone a goal behind you thought 'here we go again' but then we got the breakthrough.
"I don't think our attitude is questionable but we struggled last weekend. We are trying our best and it was a great result for us.
"We have all felt a little bit under pressure this week and we know that we did things a little bit wrong last week.
"The slower the game is the harder Jefferson finds it to get in the game, put the ball in the box and he is likely to score which is great."
