AFTER watching his side concede two first half goals before starting to kick into any sort of gear, manager Brian Little was perplexed by the team's display against Grays Athletic.

"I'm disappointed and at the moment it's so difficult to explain why we are playing like this," he said.

"I was talking before the game to one or two people who were asking how I was thinking and to be honest I was not really sure. We have been so Jekyll and Hyde at the moment, which you saw again today.

"In the second half we were more inspired without playing well, had a couple of chances and could have scrapped a draw without playing well.

"But all over the place we were not good enough. I thought we competed, but those two goals were poor again.

"We just keep giving away the most ridiculous goals at the moment. After a pre-season of everyone working hard and looking like we had got it right - on the road we are just not producing the goods.

"It's alright turning up on Tuesday night and giving it a go, perhaps beating someone at home, This is where we have to get it right if we are to do well in the league.

"This is where we find out if we are going to do well or not.

"We just haven't done well enough today.

"There keeper has pulled off a couple of good saves, so we could have pulled it back and perhaps we looked like the side that might get back into it.

"It was disappointing and it's very frustrating for us all and we are all dejected - but we will have to rub ourselves down again and pick things up to finish the month off with two decent home performances.

"We said to them to try and not give anything away in the first 15 minutes and in fairness to Grays we knew they would be up for the game and very competitive.

"It just never quite flowed. We maybe took things a little too literally with some very long balls early doors, which again is all right, but we never got enough from it.

"We would expect to play better, that's really the biggest disappointment - we would expect to have played better.

"Even at 1-0 you felt we could have had a change, but that second goal has killed us.

"To get a goal back so quickly in the second half looked good for us and there were a couple of scrambles on the goal line , which you look at and think this is not going to be our day.

"But overall we were not good enough. I know that and the players know that.

"Our immediate aim is to win these two home games coming up next week, get the team moving in the right direction and get things right before too long."
