FOLLOWING the sudden departure of Brian Little on the morning of the game, Martin Foyle and Brian Carey took charge of the team for the home match with in-form Torquay United and the lads responded with an improved performance to secure a 1-1 draw.

However, the game was marred by an injury to Simon Spender late in the game with the young full-back rushed to hospital with a dislocated elbow.

It was Martin Foyle who faced the press afterwards.

"It was very nervy but full credit to the lads who came back from 1-0 down," he said.

"It has been a horrible day really, it's been a long day and there has been a lot thrown on us very, very quickly.

"We understand that decisions have to be made, but the gaffer [Brian Little] has been absolutely fantastic with me and was halfway through his job.

"We had a little rumbling last night and this morning we spoke to Geoff [Moss], it was a case of 'just get your team out there'.

"We had no time to prepare, we did have a team that the gaffer wanted to put out so we kept to it and I thought that they battled very well today and against the odds really.

"We did everything that I, Bri [Carey] and the gaffer could do, we worked closely together but unfortunately that has gone. so myself and Bri stepped in to help Geoff and the club out.

"Believe me it has been all rushed.

"We had to do our set-pieces on the pitch prior to the game, which is quite poor really.

"We have got to get on it and I thought that the lads had that professional attitude, which we need if we are going to go on a run.

"I think that we needed a little bit of attitude and a little bit of courage, we chopped and change but I think that's healthy with the position that the club is in and with what's gone on in previous weeks nobody can come knocking on the door saying that they should be in the side.

"It has been under-par, but now I am so pleased for them [the players] that they haven't lost today because they were on a hiding to nothing.

"We have got to concentrate on the Forest Green game now and have a full week on the training ground because there is a lot of play which needs working on.

"My concerns at the moment are with Brian Little because he has looked after me, so we'll sit down now that we have got this game out of the way.

"I am pleased that we haven't lost, but hopefully we can now go on a run.

"Brian Carey and me are professional, so are the players, and we have just got to get on with it.

"It is a horrible job that managers are in these days; it is a no win situation for everybody."
