Dean: We Didn't Deserve That

Posted on: Sat 27 Feb 2010

HAVING watched his side concede a soft penalty two minutes from the end of the game at Salisbury, manager Dean Saunders was not best pleased at the final whistle.

"I just can't believe what I have just seen," he said.

"It was a body blow, I can only say I don't think I have been this disappointed since I have been at the club.

"We had enough chances to win three games, but I keep saying the same things to you every week!

"We have dominated the game, looked comfortable and our two centre halves have not had a lot to do.

"Mark Jones was clean through for their guy to be sent off and then for the penalty, you have to be 100% sure to give it in that situation.

"I feel sorry for the supporters who have travelled a long way to get behind us, but they have seen a good solid performance.

"Everyone has battled to the end and apart from not putting the ball in the net, we should have been out of sight.

"Don't think I have felt so comfortable in a game,

"We have dominate the game and Mangy has had the chance to make it 2-0. But even when he missed that header I didn't feel it would come back to haunt us.

"It does show though, that if you don't put the game to bed, then bad things can happen to you.

"I do feel sick, as we really had to win this game - it's so disappointing to be coming away with only a point.

"I won't sleep tonight thinking about this, but I'll get up in the morning and on we go again."
