HAVING watched his team surrender more valuable play-off points at home Ebbsfleet United, manager Dean Saunders was at a loss to explain why we are not able to kill teams off.
"I feel like I'm saying the same things every week - as this game should have all been over by half time," he said.
"We scored a great goal, something we'd worked on in training, then deja vu - balls going in and chances being missed!
"It should have been done and dusted before the break.
"We came out for the second half and had another few chances.
"I think I counted 14 chances today, seven on target and seven off target.
"I thought we started to panic a little bit, because of constantly missing chances, the defenders then start thinking 'here we go again'.
"You have only got to make one mistake and you leave yourself wide open.
"Last week we didn't make any mistakes and still ended up losing a goal in the last minute.
"At one stage today, I did think they were getting on top of us for a 10 minute spell, which could have seen us lose the game.
"It is really frustrating and I'm getting bored of saying the same old things after each game.
"Anyone who comes to watch us, will see that it's incredible how we're coming away from games without the points, after playing well.
"I thought we played well first half and looked really dangerous, getting bodies forward and once again we take a big punch on the chin - because we really did need to win this game.
"It's hard to criticise players, especially the defenders, but if we don't put teams to bed, then every defensive mistake will cost us.
"That should have made it 4-1, and then we don't even talk about it!"
