THE hard work of the officials at Buckley Town who toiled away all day on the pitch at Globe Way was rewarded when it has passed an afternoon inspection, so allowing this Pontin's League match against Rochdale to go ahead as scheduled.

This allowed the Wrexham second string to turn on a five-star performance as the freezing night air started to close in on the ground.

Eifion Williams lead the way with a goal in each half, which was matched by Mike Carvill and substitute Lee Jones was also on hand to grab himself a strike.

The Reds had to wait until the 29th minute, before Eifion finished off from close range after Marc Williams saw an effort come back off a post, but his strike partner was on hand to finish from close range.

Having already struck the woodwork himself, Mike Carvill notched our second on the hour, when a kind deflection in the box fell to his feet, although the Irishman still had work to do in beating keeper Steve Collins from about 10-yards out.

Danny Williams played another 60  minutes, as he continued this recovery from injury, before giving way to young Lee Jones and the defender quickly made his mark by scoring!

Silvio Spann played in a low free kick from the side of the box, it eluded everyone before reaching Lee at the back post, who slammed the ball home with much glee from only a yard out.

Wrexham were now in total control against a young Dale outfit, with attacks coming from all directions.

They grabbed a fourth goal on 74 minutes, when Carvill dashed 30-yards down the right flank before pulling his pass back into the path of Eifion Williams and the striker tucked an effort inside the far post.

Four become five on 78 minutes, when another long Carvill run was finished by the winger himself, again firing a shot across the substitute keeper and inside the far post.

The Reds could well have added several more goals to their tally, with the best effort coming from a Spann free kick which keeper Simon Williams turned away in acrobatic fashion for a corner.

This win has lifted us from ninth in the table up to fourth place - at least for a couple of days!
