AFTER a gap that was rapidly approaching three months since our last game at this level, the Reserves hit top form with a fine 4-1 success over Tranmere Rovers on a snowy Cammell Laird FC pitch.

The scoring was opening early on by Nathan Fairhurst, who hit a long-range volley from fully 30-yards that deceived Rovers' keeper Joe Collister.

Right on the stroke of half time, Matty Wolfenden doubled our advantage from close range. The striker initially setting up Fairhurst for a shot, which the keeper parried, but Wolfy was quickly on the rebound to score.

After the interval, Rovers stepped up the pressure and pulled one back through skipper Charlie Barnett's low shot from the edge of the box.

Rather than going on the back foot, Wrexham renewed their attacking efforts and Obi Anoruo found himself on the scoresheet, although not too sure how much he knew about his goal, as the ball spun off him and inside the far post.

There was no doubting Sam Williamson's effort though, as he cut in from the right wing and let rip with an effort that beat Collister all the way.

This result was ample revenge for the reserves, who have now only lost once in their seven outings this season and that was at home to Rovers back in late October.
