Pre-Season Friendly

Caernarfon Town 1 Wrexham 1

Goals:

1-0    Chalk

1-1   K.Williams

Once again our Youth team doubled up as the Reserves for this visit to Welsh Premier side Caernarfon Town.

Facing a much older side, and one that contained no less than seven former Wrexham team mates, with another four unavailable, it was always going to be a tough evening.

The young Reds fell behind to a quickly taken first half free kick, which Martyn Chalk curled into the net from 25 yards, as the Wrexham wall was still being organised.

Amazingly enough, we drew level after half time using exactly the same ploy, as Kev Williams slotted home is effort from similar distance with keeper David Walsh busy setting up his defensive wall!

The draw was a fair result on the night and coach Joey Jones will have been much happier with his team's second half showing, after a pretty average opening 45 minutes.

"It was a good second half display after we had had a word with the lads at half time.

"I was pleased that no one let their heads drop after going a goal behind and maybe in previous years we could have let another couple in at that stage.

"It was an average first 45 minutes, but our passing and general play improved after the interval."
