3-0 Carr (58)
4-0 Fayadh (60)

6-0 Rooney (87)

Wrexham's promising start was to fizzle out as the Macc Lads hit us with a double whammy after 30 minutes.

First a poor clearance on our right flank was returned with interest as striker Tommy Rooney finished with ease on the half hour mark, before three minutes later a right wing corner was headed home by Andy Teague, rising unchallenged at the back post to finish from close range.

This knocked the stuffing out of the youngsters and Macclesfield gained the upper, with Kev Williams having to clear a corner off his line in time added on at the end of the first half.

Levi Mackin had earlier gone close with a rasping drive from outside the box and Spanish trialist Juan Ugarte saw his back post effort blocked as he closed in on the target.

A booking either side of the interval for Mark Jones and Levi Mackin, both getting yellow cards for fouls.

Good work by Kev Williams on the left, ended with him laying a pass back to Mike Williams, whose lofted cross came to rest on top of the Macc net.

A cross by Matt Shaw allowed Ugarte to nip in between two defenders, but he couldn't quite guide his effort on target heading wide by about a yard.

A third goal for the home side followed on 57 minutes, when Rooney held the ball up on the edge of the box and the laid his pass outside for the overlapping Michael Carr to take it in his stride and hit a low shot across the keeper but inside the far post.

Three minutes later a long raking cross field ball dropped invitingly for Jassim Fayadh to volley first time from the edge of the box, with the winger curling the ball out of the reach of the diving Evans.

Joey then made a double substitution to bring on Jamie Reed and Chris Evans for Ugarte and Kev Williams respectively.

Fayadh was unfortunate not to score a second 69 minutes, when Rooney beat our offside trap, raced to the line and pulled back a cross for the winger to side foot on target from six-yards. Evans made the save, with the ball rebounding to Andrew Smart for a shot that was off target, but turned home by Fayadh before the linesman flagged him offside.

It wasn't long before the Silkmen went nap with defender Andrew Teague helping himself to second of the afternoon, with another unchallenged on 70 minutes.

Substitute Steve Owens then missed two great chances for the home team, failing to get a shot away when taking a short pass inside the box and the watching on as his high lob over the advancing Danny Evans bounced outside of the posts on 82 minutes.

Five became six with three minutes left, as Smart beat Mark Harris to cross, finding Tommy Rooney completely unmarked directly in front of goal, just two yards out - he had no trouble in turning the ball home!

Not a good afternoon for all concerned!
