Wrexham 0 Macclesfield 3 - Pontin's League
LAST night's Pontin's League clash with Macclesfield Town at Cefn Druids went the same way as a number of our matches this season.
After a bright opening when we looked to be edging the game, we failed once again to take our chances and we punished by a Macc side that hit us for another three goals to add to the six they scored at Moss Rose a few months ago.
The Silkmen were happy to soak up the pressure we exerted, particularly in the second half and then catch us with long balls through the middle, a tactic which worked well on a heavy pitch.
Their keeper produced several top class saves, denying Scott Green and Marc Williams, before saving his best to turn over an excellent Shaun Pejic header that seemed to be arrowing for the top corner.
A 3-0 scoreline was rough justice on a Wrexham side that was more than a match for the visitors, but football is ultimately about scoring goals!
Neil Morgan, Tommy Rooney (his cousin - before anyone asks!) and Rick Bailey sent the Macc Lads home happy.
Wrexham: Michael Jones, Simon Spender, Shaun Pejic, Gareth Evans, Alex Smith, Scott Green, Levi Mackin, Kieran Quinn, Marc Williams (Phil Gray 82), Jamie Reed (Kev Williams 77), Chris Evans (Mike Williams 61).
Subs: Graham Roche.
