WREXHAM'S youth team went down to a 2-0 defeat at Colliers Park earlier today against a strong and impressive Wolves side.
The Dragons' fought tenaciously throughout and entered half-time level thanks to a resolute defensive display. Rob Pearson had the home side's best chance of the first 45 minutes but dragged his left-foot shot narrowly wide.
With Wolves introducing several new faces in the second-half, Wrexham struggled to make headway in the final third until a mass substitution saw six replacements take the field on 70 minutes.
Whilst that ultimately led to several opportunities in the closing stages, the re-organisation saw Wrexham caught flat footed for the opening goal barely 60 seconds later, Declan Walker deflecting a low cross into his own net.
Wolves made the game safe on 75 minutes when Sam Winnall's opportunistic run into the box was rewarded when the ball fell kindly for him and he scored with a low shot from 10 yards.
Wrexham: Danny Staples (Tom Bainbridge 45), Declan Walker, Johnny Hunt (Jack Jones 73), Max Penk (Arron Moulton 45), Josh Marsh (Jack Daemon 70), Rob Pearson, Jack Jones (Matty Hurdman 70), Luke Carding, Obi Anorou (Jordan Kane 70), Joe Price (Mark Head 45), George Stewart (Nick Rushton 70).
