THE Youth team enjoyed better fortune at the weekend when holding Wigan Athletic to a 0-0 draw at Christopher Park on Friday afternoon.
The young Dragons maintained their unbeaten record in this season's Football League Youth Alliance by taking a point from another team in their division who are also without a loss.
With three wins and two draws, the Wrexham U18s sit proudly in the top three of the 18-club North-West section and now prepare themselves for their FA Youth Cup tie at Northwich Vics on Wednesday night.
In the opening stages of the season our defence has been on top of its game, conceding just two goals in five games and this was the corner stone on which we earned a draw at the Premiership Latics.
The home side did enough the better of possession, but neither side found it easy to create chances.
Obi Anoruo did get a couple of shots away in the first half, but neither really tested the home keeper.
As Wigan pushed forward late on they did get behind our defence, but they too had left their scoring boots at home.
In the end a draw was a fair result and the teams headed off into the rush hour traffic happy with a share of the spoils.
