Sean Newton started his career with fierce rivals Chester City...

He made his professional debut in 2-0 defeat against Grimsby Town in the 2008-09 season.

With only a further one game under his belt at Chester he went out on loan to Southport allowing him to gain first-team experience.

This spell included him scoring from a free-kick against Tamworth, a feat which he would gain a reputation for

After thirteen league and four cup appearances, he returned to Chester in November 2007.

He then joined Droylsden for the remainder of the season where enjoyed regular first team football bagging 15 appearances and 1 goal.

Newton then signed for Droylsden permanently where he scored a total of 5 goals from left back.

Next to add on his CV was a move to Barrow but he only played a total 4 games for the club.

In the same year he moved to AFC Telford where he stayed for two seasons playing 110 games scoring 4 goals.

At the end of the 2011-12 season he went on loan to Stockport County where he played 7 games.

The next season Newton signed for Stockport on a free transfer where he became a fans favorite and was appointed vice-captain.

He played 43 games and with his free kick ability he was able to score 6 goals.

He became captain in the back end of the season due to injuries in the squad.

Newton was also a major contender for County’s player of the season.
