Kai Evans superb first half free-kick was enough to earn the three points in a solid performance against Preston North End.

PNE never truly threatened Rory Watson’s goal, in what was a comfortable victory for the Red Dragons.
The first chance of the tie fell to one of the trialist family, who made a well-timed run to latch onto Watson’s through ball, but his shot was well saved by James Pradic.
Wrexham continued to pressure the visitors, and Kai Evans came close to putting the Red Dragons ahead, as his free kick went narrowly wide of the post.
Lewis Leigh started to dictate play for Preston, but his best efforts of the first twenty minutes both sailed over Rory Watson’s cross bar.
The majority of the first half was a cagey encounter, with neither side really taking a hold of the game.
However, it was the Red Dragons whose pressure counted the most, as Evans played an excellent ball through to the Trialist A, who was hauled down by Padric, earning Wrexham a free-kick.
Wrexham took the lead from the resulting free kick, as Evans strike this time nestled into the bottom corner, out of reach for Padric.
Padric was replaced later in the half by Tommy Davies who was called into action immediately, as he did well to parry Jake Bickerstaff’s effort away.
The visitors started the second half searching for an equaliser, as substitute Rio Pemberton played a well weighted ball across the six-yard box, but no yellow shirt could convert from it.
PNE were the more expansive of the two sides in the latter stages, but Evans caught The Lilywhites out on the counter attack, and unleashed a 40 yard strike which Davies just about dealt with.
Wrexham had a late flurry of opportunities to double the advantage, with Evans and Trialist A both creating chances, but neither able to convert.
