REPORT | AFC Fylde Youth 2-1 Wrexham AFC Youth

Young Reds beaten on the North-West Coast.

12 January 2022

Dan Nolan's young Wrexham side were dealt a blow to their title aspirations this afternoon as they fell to defeat in a clash with AFC Fylde.

A Harry Hodgeson double was enough for the Coasters as Owen Cushion's late goal to reduce the defecit proved fruitless.

The game began an even affair with neither side doing enough to trouble either goalkeeper, and it was no surprise to see the game goalless going into the break.

However, the second period saw the game come to life with Hodgeson opening the scoring on 59 minutes. The ball pinballed in the box before getting the final touch to open the scoring.

Things went from bad to worse with twenty to play as Louis Parr brought down an onrushing forward, leaving the referee with no choice but to award a penalty and book the Wrexham goalkeeper.

Hodgeson was the man to step up, and he duly dispatched.

With a minute to go Wrexham pulled once back via a smart finish from Cushion but it would't be enough and Wrexham now drop to 4th in the National League Youth Alliance H.
