Ava Suckley scored both goals as Wrexham AFC Women Under-19s made a winning start to their Genero Adran U19s North title defence away to Airbus UK.
Suckley, who returned to Wrexham this summer after time away travelling, netted twice in the first half to fire the Red Dragons to victory.
With manager Gareth Owen still recovering after suffering a stroke, Gary Evans took charge of the team, which featured Ruby Jones as captain and Lily Whitefoot another in the starting XI with first-team experience.
Chloe Ankers, Seren Cashen, Hannah Slack, Erin Oakley and Anna Marsh all made their first appearances for Wrexham AFC Women Under-19s too, as did Carys Todd and Lilli Stinchcombe from the bench.
Two of last year’s key attacking threats combined for the first goal, however, as Katie Jones provided the assist for Suckley to make a goalscoring return to the team on 18 minutes.
Ten minutes later, it was Whitefoot who was the provider as Suckley doubled the advantage – those two goals proving the difference on the night.
Wrexham: Ankers, Hardstaff, R.Jones, Burnham (Todd 71), Oakley, Cashen, Slack, K.Jones, Marsh, Whitefoot, Suckley (Stinchcombe 45)
