PRE-SEASON | Wrexham players back in training at Colliers Park

The squad return after the Summer Break

7 July 2021

Phil Parkinson put his Wrexham players through their paces for the first time as manager, as the squad returned to pre-season training at Colliers Park.

And on the first day of pre-season training, new manager Parkinson, assistant manager Steve Parkin and head of physical performance, Owen Jackson, got the players running hard.

Sporting our new 2021/22 season training wear, sponsored by Aviation Gin, the players’ fitness was put to the test with a series of drills.

But for the players, it was good to be back and to have the chance to impress the new manager, according to midfielder Dan Jarvis.

“Nobody wants to be last in the running, especially with the new manager, and everyone wanting to impress him, but it’s good to be back,” Jarvis said.

“We want to be the fittest team in the league, and by doing our pre-season properly we can do that.

“I’ve been working hard this summer. Last season, I didn’t come back as fit as I wanted so this time around I’ve got my head down and done a lot of running, and kept myself fit.

“It’s a fresh start for us all, everyone’s on the same level, and it’s time to impress the new manager.”

Striker Dior Angus, who is looking to build on the six goals he scored in his debut campaign in what will be his first full season, was also in good spirits afterwards.

“It was a wet summer – I didn’t get as much sun as I’d have liked,” he joked. “But it’s good to be back now.

“Mentally, you know the first few weeks of training are going to be tough but once the balls come out it’s good.”

Wrexham’s full pre-season schedule will be unveiled in due course, as Parkinson looks to run the rule over his new squad this summer.
