Centre back signs 1-year deal.

22 July 2021

Wrexham AFC are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Harry Lennon on a one-year deal, with the option of an extension.

Lennon, 26, is a tall, left-footed centre-back and was most recently at Southend United.

And on his move to North Wales, he said: “I’m excited, it’s a big club and I’m pleased to be here.

“Phil Parkinson was a massive part of me coming here. He spoke to me and sold the club to me. Obviously I’ve always known about Wrexham, it’s a massive Club and one that shouldn’t be down at this level.

“I have ambitions of my own to get back up into the Football League, and hopefully I can do that with Wrexham.

“For me personally, I just want to play as many games as possible, and help to create a winning mentality in the squad… we can see where that gets us.”

Lennon started his career with Charlton Athletic, breaking through the Addicks’ youth academy and into the first team in the Championship.

He made 40 appearances in all for Charlton, and also enjoyed loan spells with Cambridge United and Gillingham, before moving to Southend in 2018.

Injuries restricted his appearances in Essex, but the defender is keen to prove he is fully fit and firing once again.

He added: “I’ve been feeling good. I’ve got a bit of catching up to do now that my pre-season is starting, with the lads having already been in for a couple of weeks.

“I’ve had a lot of unlucky injuries, but fingers crossed I can get a good pre-season in now and I’ll be fighting fit for the start of the season.”

On Lennon’s signing, manager Phil Parkinson said: “We’re pleased to welcome Harry to the club. He’s a player who has played at a higher level and been really unlucky with injuries.

“But we feel that he could become an asset to us and, while it is a shorter deal to start with, we hope it will turn into a long spell at the Club.”
