STADIUM NEWS | WREXRENT STAND REFURBISHMENT IN PROGRESS

Revamped concourse facilities and new disabled viewing platform planned

10 July 2021

Supporters who sit in the WREXRENT Stand can look forward to some big improvements when they return to the Racecourse Ground, as work continues apace behind the scenes in keeping with the Club’s mission statement.

The refurbishment work includes the enlarging of the concourse area under the stand, the installation of a new kiosk and improved lighting.

In addition, new toilet facilities will be provided, as well as improvements to the existing facilities both under the stand and beside it.

A wheelchair viewing platform will also be added at pitch level in the lower tier of the WREXRENT stand, on the Mold Road side.

The platform will be formed by infilling the two lower terrace steps, with ramp access provided from the refurbished concourse.

The WREXRENT Stand refurbishment is being undertaken by the Buckingham Construction Group under the supervision of the Club’s retained architects, AFL.

On the ongoing improvements, CEO Fleur Robinson said: “Our co-chairmen have been clear they want to improve the supporter experience at the Racecourse Ground, and improvements to the WREXRENT Stand are key to that.

“The concourse area was identified early on as needing refurbishment, and we’re looking forward to welcoming supporters back to see the improvements for themselves.

“The construction of another disabled viewing platform, meanwhile, is a small step – and the first of more to come – towards ensuring improved provision for disabled supporters at the Racecourse Ground.

“It has been a busy summer on and off the pitch already, and I look forward to seeing these latest works completed, as I know all at the Club are too.”
