FIXTURE NEWS | Wrexham AFC vs Folkestone Invicta kick-off moved to allow for live streaming

Fixture to be streamed live

7 January 2022

Our Buildbase FA Trophy fourth round fixture against Folkestone Invicta, scheduled to take place at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday January 15, will now kick-off at 17:30 (GMT) and will be streamed live.

Under the current Welsh Government COVID-19 regulations, the game will be played behind closed doors with no supporters allowed to attend the match. This approach is due to be reviewed on Friday January 14, but that review will be too late for spectators to be admitted to the Racecourse Ground for this fixture if those guidelines were to change.

On this basis, we have agreed with Folkestone Invicta to move the kick-off time to 17:30 (GMT), to allow us to live-stream the fixture. All profits from the stream will be split between both teams per competition rules.

The kick-off time had to be moved in order to comply with Article 48 of the UEFA Statutes – i.e. the 14:45-17:15 blackout on live broadcasts for Saturday fixtures.

Full details of the live stream, which will be via our WrexhamPlayer platform on the club website, will be confirmed in due course. The cost of a pass to stream the game will be £10. Folkestone Invicta supporters will also be able to watch the game via WrexhamPlayer.

Wrexham booked their place in this fixture with a 5-0 win against Gloucester City in the third round before Christmas, with Jordan Davies scoring twice, and Max Cleworth, Kwame Thomas and James Jones also on target.

The fourth-round fixture will be our first at the Racecourse Ground since that game.

Seventh-tier Folkestone Invicta, meanwhile, have already seen off four teams – Hendon, Faversham Town, Hartley Wintney and Uxbridge – to book their place in the fourth round.
