Five second half goals secure great

5 January 2022

Wrexham AFC Youth scored a whopping five second half goals to bag three points and a stunning start to 2022.

Dan Davies gave Wrexham the lead after just five minutes before a Adrian Mangulabnan penalty tied things at 1-1 going into the break.

Dan Nolan's side came out firing in the second period with Owen Cushion, Jacob Milner, Dan Jones and Kai Evans all getting on the scoresheet to wrap up a convincing win.

Davies hit a cross in the early exchanges that crashed against the post before finding it's way into the back of the net.

However, 12 minutes later a Halifax penalty sailed past Louis Parr to level.

Chances were limited, Evans having the best of the lot when he put a shot one-on-one wide of the far post.

Half-Time: Halifax 1-1 Wrexham

Evans started brightly forcing the keeper just two minutes into the half into a fine save from close range.

The forward - who last month made his debut for the first team - provided the assist for the second as he buzzed around the box before Cushion lashed home.

Moments later, Evans was involved again when he won a free-kick on the edge of the box, and duly delivered with a belter of a free-kick.

An effort on 66 minutes from Mountfield went sailing over but substitute Milner was left to add the fourth, with a fine finish.

Jones was in on the act on 72 minutes with a looping effort from the edge of the box and all but seal the game at that point.

The Shaymen's goal came from the penalty spot, as would Wrexham's sixth when Evans was pushed down the left, he stepped up himself and duly dispatched.

It was a much needed win for Nolan's side who continue to fight for the National League Alliance title.

Wrexham Line-Up: Parr, Fountain, Hitchcox, R.Davies, D.Davies, James, Mountfield, Cushion, Evans, Jones, Towse
