MEMBERSHIP | Members' stories part 3: Mark Green

3 July 2022

With the 2022/23 campaign drawing ever closer, you can still purchase your official membership for the new season.

There are four different membership packages available to buy, with each category giving unique benefits to members.

These include: money-can’t-buy competitions, retail discounts and home ticket priority, to bring you closer to the Club for the new season.

In this edition of membership stories, which spoke to Wrexham AFC fan, Mark Green, who supports the Reds all the way from New Zealand and took up international adult membership this year.

Q1. What are your earliest memories of supporting Wrexham?

My earliest memories started when I used to live opposite the Racecourse on Mold Road up until I was about 13 years old. My mum used to go outside on our driveway with me (I was about three in 1977) 15 minutes before the end of the game and my dad or brother used to come out of the Kop and get me for the last 10 minutes. A couple of years later, I was a regular, sitting on the barriers trying to watch the match when the Kop was full.

Q2. What was it that made you become an international adult member for the 2022/23 season?

I always want to give back to the Club that I have supported all my life, whether that’s buying the latest shirt or piece of merchandise! Membership is feeling part of the Club, it gives you up-to-date news and discounts. It’s a no-brainer, really!

Q3. As a supporter overseas, how do you find yourself staying connected to the Club?

With social media, it’s easier to stay connected. I am a member of most fan groups on Facebook and Instagram, but I find it easier to stay in touch with the Club via Twitter. I am also in a group called WrexPats, it’s a group of Wrexham fans that have moved overseas and we all have a good chat about the Club.

Q4. What does Wrexham mean to you?

Wrexham is my hometown, my home Club. Wrexham AFC is my connection to friends and lots of great memories such as Mickey Thomas’ goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Q5. What are your hopes for the new season?

Like any Wrexham fan, the immediate hope is for promotion. I think every Wrexham fan near and far feels the same and to win the league would be the dream. My other hope is Rob McElhenney will see a Wrexham win live at the Racecourse Ground! I can already see the work being done by Rob and Ryan behind the scenes is going to put us in a good position for years to come.
