Our long-awaited return to the Racecourse is finally upon us, with Robbie Savage's Macclesfield FC the visitors to Y Cae Ras on Saturday afternoon.
This weekend's pre-season friendly comes exactly seven days before the start of the regular league season, and will see our new home kit worn by the players for the first time.
Tickets are still available for the clash here, as the Club looks forward to welcoming supporters back through the turnstiles for the first time since May. Supporters are urged to purchase tickets online in advance for this fixture.
TEAM NEWS
Following a behind-closed-doors training game against Premier League giants Manchester United in midweek, manager Phil Parkinson will be keen to give his players more important minutes here, this time in front of the Wrexham faithful.
Summer signings Jordan Tunnicliffe, Mark Howard and Elliot Lee have all made their first appearances in a Wrexham shirt during pre-season, and could get their first experiences of the Racecourse since joining the Club. After joining the Red Dragons on Thursday, Anthony Forde will also be hoping for his first run-out.
Rob Lainton, Reece Hall-Johnson and Ryan Austin remain sidelined, while Jordan Davies could make a return from a short-term injury.
THE OPPOSITION
This will be our first meeting with Macclesfield in their current guise. The Cheshire side, managed by Club legend Danny Whitaker, have enjoyed a positive pre-season so far, beating both Crewe Alexandra and York City and holding League One side Morecambe to a draw.
The Silkmen earned promotion from the North West Counties Football League Premier Division last season in impressive style and will be among the favourites to achieve further success in 2022/23. Their summer signings have included Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga (loan), and Zeki Fryers, with experienced players such as Mark Duffy also in their ranks.
