CONTRACT NEWS | Luke Young signs contract extension

Midfielder pens new two-year deal

23 June 2022

Wrexham AFC is delighted to confirm that midfielder Luke Young has signed a new two-year contract at the Club.

Young, who first joined Wrexham AFC in 2018, is now under contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 29-year-old made 49 appearances for Phil Parkinson’s side last season – triggering an extension to his contract – and has now committed his future to the Club even further.

A back-to-back Player of the Season winner in 2019/20 and 2020/21, and twice Goal of the Season winner too, Young was delighted to sign the deal, saying: “I’m thankful for the Club for offering me an extra year until the 2023/24 season.

“I’m delighted to get it done, it keeps me here for at least another two years and hopefully it’s two years of success, both on and off the pitch.”

The Devon-born midfielder was the first signing of the summer in 2018, and he made an immediate impact in his first season as he helped Wrexham reach the Play-Offs.

Young helped the team to the Buildbase FA Trophy Final and second place in the National League last season – his 49 games representing his highest-ever season total.

The midfielder has now made 181 appearances in all competitions for Wrexham, scoring 18 times, and manager Parkinson is pleased to have secured Young’s future.

He said: “Luke was excellent last season and has been previous to that as well.  We’re pleased to announce his contract and we look forward to seeing his level of performance next season.”

To accompany this announcement, Young debuted the Club’s new trainingwear for the forthcoming season, with the full range available to purchase soon.
