Wrexham AFC's PowerChair Football programme has been shortlisted for 'Best Football Community Scheme' at this year's Football Business Awards.
The Red Dragons became the first Club in Wales to offer such a service when it was introduced in October 2021, with the regular sessions growing in popularity ever since.
As part of our co-chairmen’s promise to recognise and reinforce Wrexham AFC's role as a leading force for community good in the town, the Club purchased nine pre-owned powerchairs to help kick-off the new initiative.
Earlier this month, Wrexham players across all teams showed their support for Level Playing Field's annual Weeks of Action - aimed at promoting inclusion - by wearing dedicated t-shirts to warm-up ahead of the game.
PowerChair Football takes place at the Wrexham Glyndwr University sports centre every Friday, and is now split into two sessions following the early popularity.
Children aged 6-16 should arrive at 5pm for a 5.15pm start, and adults arrive at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
