MANAGER OF THE MONTH | Phil Parkinson scoops September award

Wrexham boss rewarded for unbeaten month

10 October 2022

Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson has been named Vanarama National League Manager of the Month for September.

The award comes after an unbeaten month, which saw Wrexham pick up ten points from four games – keeping three clean sheets and scoring 15 goals in total.

Parkinson’s men started the month with a 5-0 win away to Dorking Wanderers, and returned to action after the cancellation of all fixtures on September 10, with a 4-1 win at home to Dagenham & Redbridge on the following Tuesday night.

A goalless draw with Southend United followed, before Wrexham closed out the month with a crushing 6-0 home win against Torquay United.

On being named top boss for September, Parkinson – who has now won the award twice during his time with the Club – said: “I’m pleased to have won the Manager of the Month award for September – it’s a team effort, not just on the pitch but from all the staff off it as well.

“We’re pleased with our points return after 13 games – we’re nine points clear than at the same stage last season – and now we’re going to enjoy the FA Cup fixture at the weekend, and look forward to picking up our league for again after that.”

Congratulations/llongyfarchiadau, Phil, from all at Wrexham AFC!

Notts County's Macaulay Langstaff was named Player of the Month, while Malcolm Bone of the Bromley Community Trust has been awarded the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month accolade.
