Wrexham stormed into the next round of the FAW Women’s Cup with a five-star performance away at Genero Adran North rivals CPDM Y Felinheli.
Five different players – Amber Lightfoot, Rebecca Pritchard, Sophie Hodson, Rosie Hughes and Ava Suckley – found the back of the net as Wrexham maintained their winning start to the season.
And a Yasmin Williams’ consolation for the hosts – the first goal Wrexham have conceded this season – was never going to be enough to stop the Red Dragons’ march into round three.
Manager Steve Dale handed a debut to goalkeeper Fay Jones with Del Morgan unavailable, while Erin Lovett returned from suspension to bolster the defence.
Lightfoot took just four minutes to break the deadlock, from Hughes’ assist, to notch her first senior goal of the season.
Pritchard then also got her first of the campaign on 35 minutes to ensure Wrexham led at the interval.
Hughes notched another assist five minutes after the break, as Hodson became the third player to open their account for the season to make it 3-0.
And Wrexham’s top goalscorer got in on the act herself on 65 minutes for the fourth of the afternoon – her ninth goal of the season in just three matches.
With the Red Dragons in full control, Dale introduced summer signings Lauryn Lyons, Lauren McCaffrey, Ava Suckley and Ruby Jones from the bench.
Williams pulled a goal back on 82 minutes – beating Fay Jones to breach the Wrexham defence for the first time this season.
But two of the substitutes combined with a minute remaining as McCaffrey supplied the assist and Suckley the finish to round off an excellent win.
With TNS, Llandudno and Connah’s Quay all cruising through their matches in the northern section too, Wrexham will now join them in the third-round draw.
