SIGNED | Phoebe Davies signs for Wrexham AFC Women

Experienced midfielder/defender back in North Wales

12 October 2022

Wrexham AFC Women are pleased to confirm the signing of experienced midfielder/defender Phoebe Davies.

Davies, 27, returns to North Wales having played for the original Wrexham Ladies team, during a career which has also seen her feature in both Liverpool and Everton’s youth set-ups, and captain TNS Ladies and Wem.

The move to Wrexham reunites her with former coach Steve Dale, who she worked with as a youngster. Davies also joins back up with team-mates Del Morgan and Rebecca Pritchard – after all three helped the original Wrexham to the Welsh Cup semi-finals in 2015.

She bolsters a squad who have made a winning start to the 2022/23 season, offering both experience and versatility.

And on signing, Davies said: “I’m excited to sign for Wrexham. I’ve known Steve Dale for a long time and what he’s about, and I know the team are pushing for promotion so I’m happy to be part of that.

“Compared to the current players, I’m definitely bringing experience! I’ve always been the young one, but I’m definitely the old one now! Hopefully I can bring a bit of wisdom and football knowledge to the team.

“It’s not just Wrexham that has changed since I was last here, but women’s football too. To see the support women’s football is getting now is a step in the right direction and it’s great to see Wrexham are doing their bit.”

Steve Dale added: “I’m really happy to get Phoebe involved with the Club. She’s someone I’ve known for quite a while and she’s had a good football upbringing with Liverpool and Everton, and I worked with her at a young age.

“Obviously she’s then stepped into senior football, and with the background she’s had with her previous Clubs, it is only going to benefit Wrexham.”

Wrexham AFC Women are next in action on Sunday (October 16), when they travel to CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in the Genero Adran Trophy.
