Wrexham AFC’s free community ticketing initiative, Racecourse Live, is continuing to make a positive difference in the wider Wrexham community.
The Club’s major CSR initiative for the 2022/23 season, 200 tickets for each home league game have been reserved, free of charge, for the benefit of community groups and supporters who could otherwise not afford to attend.
We are aware that the increase in popularity of Wrexham AFC and the current cost of living crisis may prevent those wanting to experience live football at the Racecourse Ground from doing so this season.
As a result, we hope to be able to offer tickets to more than 3,400 different people across the season, to ensure we continue to grow our fanbase.
Among the latest people to attend, for Wrexham’s win at home to Gateshead on Tuesday night, were Wrexham Foodbank users and volunteers.
And we are delighted to have received positive feedback from those who benefitted from the tickets.
One volunteer told us: “One young man took a ticket for himself and his brother. He had never been to see a match before and it was something he has been wanting to do for a while. You could see that he was really pleased and grateful to have been given them which was really nice.”
Further comments included: “We gave out quite a few last Friday and it was a really lovely thing to be able to do.
“Clients were really happy to receive them, they couldn't quite believe it. One boy who came in with his dad had only ever watched football on television so couldn't wait to go with his family.
“This was such a brilliant idea from the club; it brought the community together and gave people/families a day out that they would probably never be able to consider.”
Application forms can be found here for individuals, and here for group applications with tickets available for our forthcoming home games, against Maidenhead United on Saturday September 10, Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday September 13 and Torquay United on Saturday September 24 now.
The Club would encourage applications from any group, including junior teams, school classes, youth organisations, university students and those who could not otherwise afford to attend.
There will be no requirement to justify eligibility from individuals.
As part of Racecourse Live, the Club will provide an allocation of the available tickets to the local police and specialist council services.
The tickets will be used to encourage a change of behaviours and to rehabilitate individuals back into the Wrexham AFC family.
