Wrexham AFC triumphed against Colchester United despite the early challenge of a red card for the Red Dragons in just the 26th minute.
Wrexham's eagerly-awaited return to league action saw them take on Colchester United under the setting mid-December sun. The Red Dragons started strongest - Elliot Lee managing to open the scoring in just the fourth minute of the game to earn himself an impressive 12th of the season. George Evans was booked in the 20th minute - just seven minutes later he found himself sent off (for a straight red card) and so will play no further part in the match, or in 2023.
Phil Parkinson made a tactical change at half-time to support his ten-man side - with James Jones replacing Sam Dalby. A second goal of the game then went the way of the home side, with an own goal from Colchester's Zach Mitchell.
To the frustration of Mark Howard, the visiting side managed to find a way past him in the final minutes of the game, to cost Wrexham a clean sheet, but they held on to claim all three points.
