Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Live free ticketing scheme has now seen around 2,800 free tickets issued to allow supporters to watch matches at the Racecourse Ground.
In place for every league game, around 2,800 tickets have now been distributed, with 37 different groups and organisations taking advantage of the opportunity to watch matches live.
This has included community groups, Foodbank users and charities such as Shelter Cymru.
Racecourse Live – the Club’s major CSR initiative for the 2022/23 season – was introduced at the start of the campaign to ensure supporters who could otherwise not afford to attend matches at the Racecourse Ground still could.
With the huge increase in popularity of Wrexham AFC, married to the current cost of living crisis, the Club was acutely aware of the need to ensure football at the Racecourse Ground remains accessible to all.
As part of Racecourse Live, the Club provides an allocation of the available tickets to the local police and specialist council services.
The tickets will be used to encourage a change of behaviours and to rehabilitate individuals back into the Wrexham AFC family.
By the end of the season, the total cost of the tickets donated (had we sold them at full adult price instead) will be around £96,000.
Among the testimonies received, one Wrexham Foodbank volunteer told the Football Club, “This was such a brilliant idea from the Club; it brough the community together and gave people/families a day out that they would probably never be able to consider.”
Application forms can be found here for individuals, and here for group applications with tickets available for our forthcoming home games. There will be no requirement to justify eligibility from individuals.
