CHAMPIONS | Wrexham AFC Women Under-19s seal Genero Adran U19s North title in style

Young Red Dragons defend title, being crowned champions with two games to spare

3 March 2023

Wrexham AFC Women Under-19s sealed the Genero Adran U19s North title for the second consecutive season in style, storming to a 10-0 win away to CPDM Y Felinheli.

The victory – Wrexham’s ninth in ten games this season – was enough to secure the title with two games to spare, with second-placed TNS now ten points behind with only three games left to play.

Wrexham have two games left to play, at home to TNS – with whom they drew earlier in the season, in the only match they have dropped points, and away to Bangor.

It means they have defended the title they also won in their debut season last time out, with Gareth Owen’s side once again set to play in the U19s Championship Final against the southern champions.

Lili Jones scored a first-half hat-trick and Siwan Williams also hit a treble, with Katie Jones scoring twice and Ruby Jones and Natasha Spearing also on target.

Lili Jones now has 14 for the season, putting her level with team-mate Ava Suckley as the division’s top scorer, while Williams’ goals means she is just one behind on 13.

Katie Jones also reached double figures with her first of the evening, with Wrexham moving to a stunning 73 goals from ten games with their dominant win.

Llongyfarchiadau to Gareth Owen, Gemma Owen and all the players.

The Wrexham AFC Women’s first team could also seal the title at the weekend, as they head to CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in the Genero Adran North needing a win to be crowned champions with a game to spare.

The match at Belle Vue Stadium kicks off at 2pm on Sunday (March 5).

They will then conclude their season at the Racecourse Ground, when they host rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads on Sunday March 26.

Tickets cost just £1 each and go on sale on Monday (March 6).
