Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson has drawn the four five-team groups for May’s Corporate 5-a-side tournament, which will take place at the Racecourse Ground.
With 20 businesses signed up, the tournament will open with a round-robin tournament – with four groups of five teams, who are each guaranteed at least an hour of football on the day.
The tournament takes place on May 12, and a donation from tournament proceeds will be made to the Wrexham AFC Community Trust, to deliver community projects.
Parkinson joined representatives from the businesses involved at Net World Sports’ headquarters on Wrexham Industrial Estate for the live draw today, as the teams learned their opposition for the day.
And the Wrexham manager pulled out some tasty fixtures, with Official Tournament Partners Net World Sports to take on Anwyl Homes, Ifor Williams Trailers, AFL Architects and Minera Roof Trusses in Group C.
Wrexham Lager have promised some star attractions for the tournament, with team manager Mickey Thomas attending today’s draw, and they will face off against Chetwood Financial Limited, Sutton Green Engineers, Fullwood JOZ and Wrexham Glyndwr University in Group D.
Group A features Pulpex Limited, Moneypenny, SP Energy Networks, The Very Group – Wrexham and TC Transcontinental.
Group B, meanwhile, pits Barlows UK, UK Engineering Ltd, Platts Agriculture Ltd, Air IT and JCB Transmissions.
Wrexham AFC CEO Fleur Robinson said: “It was great to see so many representatives of the teams involved come to watch the draw at Net World Sports today.
“The aim of the event is to bring the business community together, and this was a small taster of what we have to look forward to in the summer.
“Some of the team rivalries have already begun, and we know the competition will be a great occasion and well-contested.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everybody again on May 12, and welcoming the businesses to the Racecourse Ground.”
