Wrexham AFC Women reached the halfway stage of Phase One of the Genero Adran Premier 2023/24 campaign with a big win on the road against Cardiff Met.
After an evenly-matched first-half, in which 16-year-old debutant goalkeeper Chloe Ankers put in an assured performance for Wrexham between the sticks, Wrexham turned the screw after the break.
Captain Keren Allen suffered a bad head injury which forced her to be replaced, but Wrexham rallied in response and Rosie Hughes broke the deadlock shortly afterwards.
Mari Gibbard's sumptuous chip and Ava Suckley's first league goal of the season wrapped up victory. The visitors didn't have it all their way, however, with Hughes recieving a second yellow card of the match deep in stoppage time - resulting in a red and a suspension for the next league game against Swansea.
