Due to player withdrawals within the Republic of Ireland camp, James McClean has now been called up for this weekend’s Euro 2024 Qualifier against The Netherlands.
With both Will Smallbone and Festy Ebosele ruled out through injury, McClean is now in contention to appear in Saturday’s match in Amsterdam.
He started in the previous fixture against the Dutch, which saw them just edged out in a 2-1 defeat at the Aviva Stadium.
The selection will see his farewell from international football extended, after announcing his retirement plans in October.
On Tuesday 21 November, McClean will make his final appearance for the Republic of Ireland in a friendly against New Zealand.
It will draw to a close his storied international career, and everyone at Wrexham AFC wishes him all the best ahead of the upcoming round of fixtures.
He will now miss this weekend's clash against Accrington Stanley.
