Phil Parkinson and Elliot Lee have both been nominated for SkyBet League Two monthly awards after Wrexham AFC’s unbeaten October.
After ending September with just our second defeat of the season, we bounced back in October with five wins and two draws in all competitions – including four clean sheets. This was despite playing five matches away from home last month, including against two of our fellow top-four clubs.
Those results lifted us to third in the Sky Bet League Two table, and secured our safe passage to the second round of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy too.
As a result, Parkinson has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award – just reward after picking up 14 points, and ending the month with what Parkinson described as the best performance of his time with the Club, as we beat rivals Notts County.
Central to those results was the incredible form of Elliot Lee, who has picked up where he left off last season with some more match-winning contributions.
Lee scored a header in the 3-2 win against Salford City, stepped off the bench to volley in a spectacular last-gasp winner against Sutton United and fired in his tenth goal of the season to set us on our way to victory against Notts County.
On his nomination, Sky Bet wrote: “In addition to his all-action style and energy in midfield, Lee scores game-changing goals.”
