COMMUNITY | Owen Jackson close to completing challenge for Prostate Cancer

Support Owen's run by following the link to his Just Giving

26 October 2023

First Team Sports Scientist Owen Jackson has been running 5km everyday throughout October in support of Prostate Cancer.

Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes - that's half the length of a football match.

Set up by club performance staff Stephen Gilpin (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Ross Burbeary (Derby County), club staff and fans are challenged to walk, run or cycle 3km, 5km or 10km everyday during the month of October.

Jackson, who has been with the Club since 2021 and with five days remaining, has so far raised £1,380 for Prostate Cancer UK.

With an already superb total raised, he explained it has been a fantastic and rewarding experience.

He said: It’s great seeing everyone come together as a community completing the challenge to raise awareness and money for Prostate Cancer.

“Some days are harder and more painful than others but it’s nothing compared to the devastating effect Prostate Cancer has on thousands of families every year, with 144 men diagnosed every day, that’s the motivation.

“It’s so rewarding reading the messages of support and getting the emails saying, “you’ve received a new donation”, it really keeps you going.”
