Red Dragons' late goal seals a win under the floodlights

25 October 2023

Elliot Lee's thunderous strike earned Wrexham a late win against Sutton United on another memorable Tuesday night under the lights at STōK Cae Ras.

The night started in rainy conditions as the two sides took to the pitch to warm up with the weather stopping just as the match got underway.

A sublime Paul Mullin goal saw the Red Dragons take the lead on the late October evening in North Wales. An early change was needed however, as Eoghan O'Connell was replaced by Ben Tozer, and there were no further goals before the break.

It wasn't to be all Wrexham's way after the restart, however, as Sutton levelled in the 59th minute.

Pushing for victory, Phil Parkinson made a triple substitution as the hosts looked to take the game to League Two's bottom side - Lee, Sam Dalby and Steven Fletcher all hoping to make an impact. To the delight of the home fans, that is exactly what Lee did in the 88th minute giving Wrexham AFC all three points.

See how the pandemonium of the late winner looked from the perspective of Club Photographers Gemma Thomas and Lloyd Jones.
