Wrexham AFC Women drew a riveting opening game of the 2023/24 season under the floodlights against Swansea City.
The women took to the pitch in their first ever Genero Adran Premier match against a strong Swansea City side. It took 23 minuites for the deadlock to be broken, with Rebecca Pritchard opening the scoring for Wrexham.
The hosts extended their lead with a second from Rosie Hughes assisted by Lili Jones early in the second half, but that lead disappeared when Swansea scored two in quick succession in the 75th and 84th minutes.
Wrexham's resilience was rewarded, however, with a debut goal for Hannah Keryakoplis with just a single minuite left of the ninety. However, with 11 minutes added on at the end of a blood-and-thunder second-half, Swansea managed to gain a third of their own in added time, ending the action-packed evening.
