INTERNATIONAL WATCH | James McClean

McClean could feature tonight against 2018 World Cup winners France

7 September 2023

James McClean could be in international action tonight, as the Republic of Ireland take on France, in their Euro 2024 Qualifying campaign.

The hundred-time international has been a key feature for the Republic of Ireland since his debut back in 2012.

After playing over a decade of international football, the number 11 made Stephen Kenny's squad for their two qualifiers against France and The Netherlands.

They currently sit third in Group B, trailing France, 2004 winners Greece, and level on points with the Netherlands.

In the first fixture between the Republic of Ireland and tonight's opponents, it was the visitors that ran out victorious with a 1-0 victory at the Aviva Stadium.

Benjamin Pavard scored the only goal of the game, and McClean came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour.

He went on to feature in both games in the last round of fixtures against Greece and Gibraltar.

Tonight's match in Paris is available to watch in the United Kingdom on Viaplay Sports 1.
