Wrexham AFC cemented their spot in the top three with a incredible six-goal win against Forest Green Rovers – confirming their promotion to Sky Bet League One.
The Red Dragons’ history-making afternoon started with a goal for Elliott Lee in the 17th minute, quickly followed just six minutes later as Paul Mullin cooly headed it home – doubling Wrexham’s lead.
A mistake from Forest Green handed the Red Dragons a third with Ryan Inniss scoring an own-goal – taking the honours from Eoghan O’Connell whose shot had deflected in. A final blow before the break for Forest Green came when Mullin doubled his match tally, sending the Red Dragons into the interval with a controlling lead.
A second-half of full control continued Wrexham’s successful afternoon; after scoring his first goal for the Red Dragons on Tuesday, Ryan Barnett brilliantly volleyed into the back of the net for his second of the week. One final nail in the coffin came courtesy of Jack Marriott who found himself sealing the three points for Wrexham AFC with his first goal for the Club.
With results across the league going the Red Dragons’ way, promotion was confirmed at the full time whistle. It means history for the Club, as we celebrate back to back promotions for the first time in Wrexham AFC’s storied 159-year history.
