The dedicated Dragon Chat room at the Wrexham Miners Project was opened on Saturday in memory of supporter Callum Lewis Jones, who sadly passed away on April 22, 2023, just hours before Wrexham sealed the National League title.
As well as holding weekly mental health peer support group calls – on Thursdays, from 7pm-8.30pm for men; and our new Women’s Dragon Chat group call on Mondays from 8pm-9.30pm. Details on how to join the calls can be found here – the Dragon Chat group meet at the Wrexham Miner’s Project before every home match-day.
Every Wrexham AFC supporter is invited to attend, from 1pm onwards for a 3pm kick-off, and from 6.15pm onwards for a 7.45pm evening kick-off. The group meets for a pre-match social get-together, with supporters invited to come along to connect with felloe supporters for a chat about Wrexham AFC or anything else you wish to discuss.
The emphasis of the group is to tackle any potential social isolation which supporters may feel, and facilitate an opportunity to meet fellow fans. The Dragon Chat facilitators will be available to meet and chat to about both our men and women’s groups should anyone attending wish to.
The room at the Miners Project was opened by Callum’s mother, Pam Jones, with many other family members attending, alongside Dragon Chat volunteers and members of the peer-support groups, and Wrexham AFC CEO Fleur Robinson.
A range of soft drinks and hot food are available to purchase from the cafe at the venue, and can be eaten in the room. For more information, see the Dragon Chat page on the club website or email email@example.com.
