Red Dragons leave Greater Manchester empty-handed

4 February 2024

Wrexham AFC were unable to turn around their away form, losing to Salford City in what was the Red Dragons third consecutive away loss.

The visitors were trailing in just the sixth minute of play when ex-Wrexham player Theo Vassell headed past Arthur Okonkwo from a Salford corner. Salford continued to dominate the early proceedings and earned a second, direct from a corner in the 16th minute.

Wrexham hit back from their first chance of the game, in the closing stages of the first half; the returning Aaron Hayden set up Sam Dalby to reduce the deficit at the interval.

However, despite a positve start for Wrexham in the second-half, Salford's third goal proved the terminal blow. Though Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton were both handed their debuts, Wrexham could not find a way back into the game on a frustrating afternoon in Greater Manchester.
