WREXHAM AFC REMEMBERS | Memorial match 2024

Club to pay tribute to members of Wrexham AFC family no longer with us

10 February 2024

Today marks our annual memorial fixture, in which we ask all supporters to join us in remembering the members of the Wrexham AFC community who are sadly no longer with us.

We ask everybody to join us ahead of kick-off as we pay tribute to those former players, staff & volunteers, and supporters who have passed away in the last 12 months.

Roger Lloyd, aged 75

Roger was a steward at the Cae Ras for an incredible 48 years, and worked his last match on Saturday December 23 against Newport County.

All at the Football Club were deeply saddened to learn of Roger’s passing over Christmas. His fellow stewards paid tribute to Roger as they lay flowers at the following home game, and supporters marked the 48th minute with a minute’s applause, to commemorate the 48 years he worked for Wrexham AFC.

David Williams was born in Wrexham and joined the Club’s junior ranks in 1961 – impressing enough to earn a Wales Amateur Under-18 call-up the following year.

Williams spent three years at the Club in total, playing in reserve matches in the Cheshire League.
